The atmosphere at the April Luncheon was delightful and we had the restaurant to ourselves…literally!  The manager mentioned that people are not going out to eat for lunch during the week, and our luncheon attendance was down as well.  In the end with some late RSVPs, we had 19 people join us for a lovely lunch.  The luncheon was rated favorably but the best part was just getting an opportunity to talk with friends and meet new people.

Restaurant: Club de Tenis Betis
Location: Avenida Ramón Carandes/n (Porvenir neighborhood)

The February AWC luncheon was held at the Real Club de Tennis Betis and was a huge success!  We had a total of 35 people attend and 22 people filled out the restaurant review form.  Every one responded that this luncheon was an excellent value (5 forks) and it is no wonder as the luncheon only cost 10 Euros per person!  In addition, the service, ambiance and food were all rated quite high by the majority of attendees.  All in all, the February luncheon was a wonderful event.  Thank you again to Carol Crisler who helped to organize this event.  Anyone can eat lunch at the club (you do not have to be a member) and the daily menu selections are high quality and an extremely good value.

Restaurant: El Cabildo Restaurant
Location: Plaza Cabildo (in front of the Cathedral)

Members of the AWC had a wonderful experience at the March luncheon where we had a gastronomic journey through Andalucia at the El Cabildo Restaurant.  We had 21 people attend and 14 members filled out restaurant review forms.  The restaurant rated very high in all areas (five forks in food, service, value and ambiance).  The only complaint registered on the review forms was that we were served too much food; however, the quality of the dishes was exceptional and it was served in a fun and exciting way, highlighting different regions of Andalucia with each plate.

Restaurant: Hayaci Japanese Restaurant
Location:

In three years of organizing luncheons for the AWC, I have never had such a wide variety of comments as the ones I received from Hayaci Japanese Restaurant.  Several people indicated that is was an absolute disappointment while others raved about the food.  Comments included, “Excellent sushi!” as well as “Disgusting food, restaurants we should avoid…THIS ONE!”  Overall, the 29 people who rated the restaurant experience gave it above average in every category except service.

Restaurant: Taberna de Alabardero
Location: Calle Zaragoza

The first AWC luncheon of the 2009 year was held at the Taberna de Alabardero on a very cold and rainy January day.  The ambiance was rated extremely high and it is no wonder as we had the back covered patio area to ourselves.  We had 30 members attend and received 27 restaurant reviews.  Several people commented that the quality of the food was not as good as they were expecting from the Taberna de Alabardero.  Thank you to everyone who attended and special thanks to those who filled out the review form.

Restaurant: Tre Fratelli Restaurante
Location: Calle de Canalejas, 2

The January luncheon was held at Tre Fratelli Restauante due to a last minute change beyond the control of anyone in the AWC.  Special thanks to Carol Crisler who was able to find a new location with a comparable price in less than 24 hours.  Even with this change, we had a total of 39 women attend the event – which was close to the capacity of the dining room!  Twenty-three people took time to fill out the restaurant reviews and rated the value of the extremely high.
